I.S. Krall, a professor at Northeastern University and an internationally renowned HPLC specialist, participated in the 2nd Beijing BSPIA. After the conference, he published a commentary entitled “The Second BCEIA Conference” in Volume 7, Issue 4, 1988, Treds in Analytical Chemistry. The second BCEIA originally planned 400 Chinese scholars and 200 foreign scholars. However, as many as 508 Chinese scholars actually attended the ceremony, while there were only 125 foreign scholars, including 38 invited delegates. Therefore, Professor Klard’s impression was that most of the foreign scientists attending the conference were specially invited. In fact, all foreign scholars participating in BCEIA submitted papers to the conference and conducted academic exchange activities. Professor Kral gave an objective appraisal of the progress of analytical chemistry in China and the organization of BCEIA, which shows that it is a success to hold BCEIA. He also gave a fair comment on how BCEIA can become a truly international conference and non-English speaking country, especially the Chinese side. This is of great benefit to improving our organizational work and running the next BCEIA. The following part of the text will be published for reference.
