On October 25, 2008, the 5th Navy’s “Virginia” class nuclear submarine “New Hampshire” (SSN 778) held its service ceremony and officially joined the United States Navy. The U.S. Navy plans to sign the third batch of “Virginia” class construction contracts by December this year for the construction of eight “Virginia” class ships by Northrop Grumman Shipyard and General Dynamics electric boats Boats (SSN 784-SSN 791), the first ship to be purchased in FY2009. According to the initial plans of the U.S. Navy, two Virginia Virginia-class ships will be procured each year beginning in FY12. However, in order to solve the problem of a shortage of attack-type submarines that the United States may face and meet the operational requirements of the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Congress proposed The U.S. Navy procures two ships a year from fiscal year 2011. This will reduce the cost of every Virginia-Class boat to $ 2 billion in FY2005. In an effort to reduce the cost of submarines, the U.S. Navy will continue to invest in the design of the “Virginia” class submarines to further enhance its comprehensive combat capabilities and meet future operational needs.
