阿克苏 、库车,轮台三县、位于天山南麓塔里木盆地西北缘,是新疆维吾尔自治区冬小麦的主要栽培区之一.冬小麦播种面积,轮台县占耕地46.4%,占小麦97.4%;库车县占耕地50.2%,占小麦98.2%;阿克蘇县占耕地27.8%,占小麦70.6%.在社会主义农业飞跃发展的新形势下,随着灌溉面积增大,特别是大面积的垦荒,冬小麦的播种面积也将逐渐扩展.目前,由于该三县冬小麦越冬期间的死亡严重,使产量的提高受到一定影响.1957年,轮台县播种冬小麦896.85亩,每亩产量为155.61斤,较1956年减产22.5%,加该县卡尔巴乡冬小麦播
