Academics often regard Lu Jiuyuan as one of the representatives of psychology. For the psychologist Lu Jiuyuan, “heart” is undoubtedly the core of the word. Heart words in modern Chinese usually represent subjective thinking and consciousness. In history, Lu Jiuyuan’s say is often “denigrated by Buddhism” ~ 1. So, what is the connotation of Lu Jiuyuan’s heart? Does it have distinctive subjectivity? Is it proper to crown it with a philosopher? This is the main issue that this article pays close attention to. This article will try to reveal its basic connotation by analyzing various usage of the heart words of Lu Jiuyuan and point out that there is no distinct subjective consciousness in Lu Jiuyuan’s heart.
