新中国成立前的《新华日报》,是中共中央在国统区公开出版的党报。报纸一出版,就受到读者的热烈欢迎,很快销往全国甚至国外。它在宣传抗日,争取民主,开展群众斗争,传播马克思主义等方面取得了卓越的成就。1945年重庆谈判期间,毛泽东在接见《新华日报》的工作人员时说,《新华日报》是报纸,但是更是手榴弹,更是机关枪,因为它的目标也就是所有武器的目标:坚持抗战,反对投降;坚持团结,反对分裂;坚持进步,反对倒退。所以,如果有人问我共产党的军队究竟有哪些的话,那么我就这样告诉他:我们除了有八路军和新四军,还有一支“新华军”……
The Xinhua Daily before the founding of New China was the party newspaper publicly published by the CPC Central Committee in the KMT. As soon as the newspaper was published, it was warmly welcomed by readers and quickly sold to the whole country and even to other countries. It has made remarkable achievements in promoting anti-Japanese war, fighting for democracy, carrying out mass struggles and spreading Marxism. During the meeting in Chongqing in 1945, Mao Zedong, when interviewing the staff of Xinhua Daily, said that Xinhua Daily was a newspaper, but it was even a grenade. It was even a machine-gun because its goal was that of all arms: persevere in the war of resistance and opposition Surrender; adhere to unity and oppose splittism; keep progress and oppose retrogression. So if anyone asks me exactly what the Communist forces are, then I told him: In addition to the Eighth Route Army and the New Fourth Army, there is a “Xinhua Army” ......
