夏连友是1998年当选为吉林市十二届人大代表的。3年来,他时时处处倾听群众呼声,积极反映民意,向有关部门提出意见、建议共30多件,其内容涉及到社会的诸多方面,从而较好地反映了人民的心声和社会关注的问题,促进了有关问题的解决。从大局出发,为人民着想,将群众的呼声和要求通过代表建议和意见的形式反映出来,并变成现实,是夏连友执行代表职务所努力追求的目标。永吉县县城原来在县委党校旁设有一个早市,但由于清晨噪声大、卫生不好,附近居民、群众有意见,不久就被取缔,但也带来了居民买菜难和农民进城卖菜难的问题。夏连友当选人大代表后,很多人以不同的方式向他反映这一问题。对这件事要不要过问,开始他心里还挺矛盾。不过问,有负大家的期望。但管这件事,又必然加重环卫处的工作量,职工可能会说他是自添麻烦。后来他想,自己既然是人大代表,就应该替多数人着想,不能因为局部利益影响大局。于是他主动找到县政府有关部门,提出在县城重新
