With the continuous acceleration of the process of population aging in our country, the long-term care problems of senior citizens, empty nesters and disabled seniors are getting more and more social attention. Since the 1980s, the United Nations has held many world conferences on aging and has included the issue of aging on important topics. The survey data shows that about 32.5 million elderly people in our country need different forms of long-term care. The more economically developed areas, the higher the need for nursing care. However, at present, the facilities for providing elderly care services are seriously inadequate, and the services and the content of nursing services are inadequate. The quantity and quality of aged care services are far behind the needs of the community. How to be able to do the work of nursing for the elderly, to ensure the health of the elderly as much as possible, to improve the quality of life, and to achieve active aging? To this end, at the occasion of the International Nurse Day on May 12, our magazine interviewed the 37th Nightingale Medal - Department of Health, Beijing Hospital, former director of Zeng Xiyuan care.
