陶行知先生原名陶文濬。读大学时,因信奉明代哲学家王阳明的“知行合一”学说,认为“知是行之始,行是知之成”,故改名为“陶知行”。43岁时,由于经过多年的实践,认识到“行是知之始,知是行之成”,因而又改名为“陶行知”。陶先生的改名,体现了他教育思想的转变。他曾说:“行动是思想的母亲。”又曾说:“行动是老子,知识是儿子,创造是孙子。”这些精辟的话,形象地说明了
Tao Xingzhi formerly known as Tao Wenjun. When I was in college, I changed my name to “Tao Zhixing” because I believe that “knowledge is the beginning of the line and the line is the knowledge”, due to the doctrine of “unity of knowing and doing” by the philosopher Wang Yangming of the Ming Dynasty. At the age of 43, after years of practice, I realized that “the line is the beginning of the knowledge, the knowledge is the line of action,” and hence the name “Tao Xingzhi.” Mr. Tao’s change of name reflects his educational philosophy. He once said: “Action is the mother of thoughts.” He once said: “Action is Lao Tzu, knowledge is son, creation is grandson.” These incisive words vividly illustrate
