谈及当代智利文学,人们无法回避这个国家曾经历过的特殊政治时期。1973年智利发生军事政变,民选总统萨尔瓦多·阿连德被暴力推翻,皮诺切特领导的军政府开始了长达十七年之久的独裁统治。这一事件给智利文化圈带来的最大冲击,莫过于知识分子及艺术家大规模的流亡。作家成了风口浪尖上的人物,而对于文学作品严苛的审查制度,禁锢了智利国内文学创作的发展。
When it comes to contemporary Chilean literature, one can not shy away from the special political era that the country has ever experienced. In 1973, a military coup took place in Chile. The elected President Salvador Allende was violently overthrown. The military government led by Pinochet began a dictatorship of up to 17 years. The biggest impact this incident exerted on the Chilean cultural circle was the mass exoduses of intellectuals and artists. The writer has become a cliché, and the harsh censorship of literary works has imprisoned the domestic literary creation in Chile.
