Supply and marketing cooperatives are collectively-owned cooperative economic organizations of peasant masses. Zhejiang Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives consists of 11 municipal agencies, 82 counties (cities, districts) and 564 grassroots units, and has a history of more than 50 years. By the end of 2003, there were more than 60,000 employees serving the system in the province and nearly 1400 affiliated enterprises.
