一九九六年评选上海首届十大藏书家,我也忝列其中。当时参加评选的有五十九人之多,上报家中有上万册书的藏书爱好者也有十几位,我觉得自己能选上,估计是与自己收藏的二千多册签名本有关。 余生也晚,我从五十年代起开始藏书的,但“文革”开始,家里被抄,藏书也作为“四旧”而洗劫一空。但我在“书荒”的年代里,仍然视书为生命,八十年代起,家中藏书日益增多,我开始寻觅名家签名本。因为名作有名家签名,那就更加弥足珍贵了。但名家的签名本不易得到,尤其是要题明赠送给我的签名本,就更不易获得。当时我已写了几本小书,我每次去外组稿,总带上自己的书,赠送给名家,他们也“报之以李”,还赠自己的书,我记得自己写的《咏鸟诗话》《群芳诗话》与《唐伯虎落第》,都先后送了上百本,自然也得到了一些名家的签名本。比如廖沫沙、赵家壁、柯灵、罗竹风、郑逸

Each time I went outside to write a draft, I always brought my own book and presented it to famous people.
