自高等函授教育诞生以来,其教育教学管理得到了很大的发展。但是随着时代的变迁,很多教育教学管理方式已经稍显滞后。外部因素现代科技的发展,对人才的质量要求提高;内部因素有主办院校的办学方式、管理模式落后。这些因素要求高等函授教育必须要突破以前的落后观念,改革迫在眉睫。权变理论是在有组织的、系统的基础上,以组织内外部环境变量和管理变量之间的权变关系为研究主题,从而找到最合适的管理方式,这种管理方式正好符合了高等函授教育教学改革的需要。因此,高等函授教育教学管理理应在权变理论的指导下进行,这样才能使高等函授教育教学更好地朝着科学化、规范化的方向发展。
