父亲是作为一个普通百姓经历淮海战役的。淮海战役打响时,我父亲正在国立徐州师范读书。1948年11月30日,国民党徐州剿总副司令杜聿明弃守徐州,率领30万守军西撤,父亲被国民党军裹挟做挑夫。国民党军沿萧永线路西逃,到萧永边界的张庄寨、青龙集、陈官庄一带时,即被解放军包围,到了无处可逃的绝地。父亲在国民党军队伍里生活了40多天,直到1949年1月1 1日才侥幸脱身回家。
My father experienced the Huaihai Campaign as a common people. Huaihai battle started, my father was studying in the state Xuzhou normal. On November 30, 1948, Du Yuming, the deputy commander of the Kuomintang’s suppression of Xuzhou, abandoned Xuzhou and led 300,000 defending troops to West China. His father was threatened by the KMT army as a porter. The Kuomintang army fled West along the Xiao-Yong line to the Zhangzhuang Village, Qinglongji and Chenguangzhuang areas on the Xiao-Yong border. When the Kuomintang troops were surrounded by the People’s Liberation Army, they went to the Jedi where they were nowhere to go. My father lived in the Kuomintang army for more than 40 days and did not get away from home until January 1, 1949.
