Objective To understand the sanitary status of swimming facilities in Pudong New Area of Shanghai and explore the problems in the management of places. Methods Totally 19 swimming areas were randomly divided into districts and were surveyed and evaluated for air quality and swimming pool water quality respectively. The χ2 test was used to test the pass rate. Results Of the 19 swimming facilities, 14 were open all year round and only 5 were open in summer. All of them had health permits. The passing rate of air quality indexes of places was CO2 (100%), passing rate of wind speed (97.8%), passing rate of relative humidity (93.3%)> the total passing rate of air bacteria (88.9%); the lowest qualified indicators of water quality were residual chlorine (0%), free residual chlorine (25.0%) and urea (40.9% There was no significant difference in passing rate of water samples between district, shallow water area and children’s pool (P> 0.05). There was no significant difference in passing rate of water quality between different types of swimming places (P> 0.05). Conclusion The health status of swimming facilities in summer peak is not optimistic, so it is urgent to strengthen the monitoring and supervision.
