The preface is based on the “50 evaluations of the 100 largest industrial enterprises in China in 1987 and nine industries in 1987” and the “50 evaluations of the 500 largest industrial enterprises and industries in China in 1990”. This research has been going on for four years. In the past four years, we have adhered to the “scientific, objective, and fair” attitude, based on international practice, and at the same time, according to the reality of my difficulties, we have ordered large-scale industrial enterprises in China. This empirical study fully reveals that the large enterprises in China have played an important role in the economic development of troubled people in the past 40 years.
