名誉具有巨大价值 :它一方面使人遵守道德从而保障社会存在发展 ;另一方面则推动人们奋发有为、取得成就。但是 ,名誉同时又具有相当大的负价值 :它往往使人陷于邪恶——假仁假义和自我异化。这种负作用几乎是不可避免的 ,只有依靠良心来消解 :如果一个人遭受了不该得的谴责 ,如果他因为追求光荣、自由、创新、自我实现而遭受轻蔑 ,他的良心便应该自豪 ,从而化解这种错误名誉的压力 ;如果他得到了不该得的荣誉 ,如果他因为追求虚荣、屈己从众、追赶时髦而赢得赞誉 ,他的良心便应该惭愧 ,从而追求光荣、自由、创新、自我实现。
