Objective: To study the changes of cerebral oxygen saturation under mental fatigue. Methods: Twenty-five subjects were randomly selected from a military academy. The mental fatigue model was constructed by simulating the load of the flight mission. NASA-TLX scale was used to evaluate the model. Near-infrared spectroscopy was used to monitor the blood oxygen saturation of the brain tissue in the experiment. The performance of the subjects was assessed before and after the experiment. Results: The score of NASA - TLX after the task was significantly higher than that before the task (P <0.01). The job performance changed before and after the task, the correctness of the test of response ability decreased (P <0.01) and the error rate increased (P <0.01). Oxygen saturation of brain tissue after task load increased relative to resting state (P <0.05). Conclusion: Mental fatigue can affect the performance of subjects. The level of oxygen saturation in brain tissue after fatigue was higher than the resting level due to the motivation of the subjects and the compensatory mechanism.
