活塞环制造中,铸铁油环铣油孔历来用的是细齿切口铣刀,材质为高速钢W18Cr4V随着发动机的发展,出现了外园环岸镀铬的内撑弹簧铸铁油环,简称镀铬油环。 在制造这种油环时,环岸镀铬与铣油孔的矛盾突出。因为当环岸镀铬时,油槽底部也镀上较薄的一层,这时再用细齿切口铣刀去铣油孔,刀具很快就被烧毁。为了解决这一矛盾,在生产上就出现了盲孔镀路方法和槽底保护镀铬法。上述方法虽已广泛应用、但从镀铬质量及生产的经济性上看,它们均不及槽底无保护、直接镀铬后再铣油孔的方法好。
