根艺是我国古老的民间美术。历代每逢盛世都得以珍视,其原因是它能体现中华民族的审美观、情趣、气质,因而被当今国际友人誉为“最具东方特色的艺术品”。突出自然造化之美是中华根艺的最大特点。自古先民们就崇尚自然美,并把自然万物视为有生命情感之灵。根艺以它的“神奇”、“博大”诱发观赏者的才情与想象,一旦人与根艺的“内涵”沟通,便生发物我皆忘的感情升华,这需观赏者的慧眼和清净的心境,即美学意义上的“审美静观”。故品位高雅的根作具有“看不够”的永恒之美。鉴制与收藏根艺是文化积淀深厚的体现,它对净化心灵,美化环境,提高审美素质具有积极的意义。
