法纳克(FANUC)公司最近完成了计算机控制(CNC)机床和工业机器人相结合的加工单元,并将这种多数的加工单元配置在机床厂,建立起了可以进行各种机械加工的柔性、无人化的生产加工系统。为了促进这种加工单元的高性能化,将自动仓库和无人搬运车管理的仓库搬运系统及单元的启动指令、进度管理、运转状况的监视等运营管理系统结合起来,来实现机床工厂的综合自动化,这就是工厂自动化(FA)。这种工厂自动化系统是由富士电机制造、富士通、法纳克三家公司,即3F(三家公司的字头均为F)联合研制的。本系统通过控制的分散化和管理的集中化,以求控制机器的简易化及负载的分散化,可以有效地利用信息,这样,就实现了具有柔性的自动化系统。
