《语文课标》在“基本理念”中也强调阅读教学要努力“丰富学生的语言积累,培养语感”;在“总目标”中又要求阅读要有“较丰富的积累和良好的语感”。在“各阶段目标”中还细化了不同学段学生课外阅读的内容及数量;此外在“阅读建议”中又推荐了相应的阅读参考书目。这些规定致使课外阅读的重要性不言而喻。
