Taxol is the most popular anti-cancer drug following doxorubicin and cisplatin. It was a diterpenoid complex first extracted from the bark of the yew tree in the United States and Canada in 1963 by Monroe E. Wall and M.C. Wii of Research Triangle Site of the United States. Later, they determined the chemical structure by X-ray diffraction with Andew T. Mephail of Duke University. Pharmacological tests the same year first demonstrated the substance of P-388 and L-1210 treatment of leukemia in mice. However, due to the poor water-solubility of the substance, it is difficult to inject and the content in the bark of the raw material is too low (less than one ten thousandth)
