什么是农业气象学?它是研究适用于农业要求的气候和天气的科学.它和农业生产有着密切的联系.农业气象学的基本任务是要最有效地利用各个地区的天气和气候资源来为农业服务,尤其要克服不良的天气和气候条件,以能获得高额而稳定的产量。有人说,有了天气预报,就可以保证农业生产,用不着另外再要农业气象了.这是不知道天气预报和农业气象是两门不同的科学.固然天气预报对农业生产是有一定的作用的,但并不能够因此就代替了农业气象学.天气预报或气象学是研究大气物理变化的科学,而农业气象学依照苏联农业气象学家维茨凯维奇的定义,它是研究对农业具有重要意义的、对农业生产的对象和过程发生相互作用的那些气象条件、水文条件的一门科学.
