Fiat, the Italian carmaker, has applied Styrolution’s copolymer to unpainted exterior parts to meet its UV resistance. Fiat will use Styrolution’s Luran S copolymer on unnamed exterior parts of all its new cars globally to replace the ABS plastic used. Luran S grades and blends are toughened with acrylate rubbers and are therefore well suited for applications exposed to rain, wind and all weather conditions. Servetti manager of the Fiat Research Center said: ”Luran S is the best choice because the external parts it produces still retain the customer’s required surface quality while reducing the total cost of ownership."
