樊兴为唐初名将,战功赫赫,与刘文静、钱九陇等俱为建国定祚勋臣,其生事两《唐书》本传叙述颇粗略,也有疏误之处,爰据文物载记稍加补正,以就教于学者。樊兴安州人。两《唐书》本传皆未著录其字,《陕西通志》卷二四二《金石》八《樊兴神道碑》云:“字积庆。”安州人,《旧传》、《神道碑》作安陆人.安州属淮南道,治安陆县。《旧传》依碑举县名,《新传》则举州名,俱合唐代注籍法。
