信息作为一种特殊商品,具有价值和使用价值是无庸置疑的。但是如何评价信息价值,至今尚未有一个系统的说明和定量的表示。以信息的信息量可以用负熵量中得到启示,对有效信息——信息价值,也可以用定量来表示,这是一个国内外学术界正在探讨的问题。一信息价值是一个综合的概念,它涉及社会的文化、经济等领域。信息的价值在于它能够以积极态度影响社会的变化。信息应该考虑经济价值,但信息价值是由社会文化结构中的多种因素决定的。
