Objective: To investigate the effect of preclinical training on dental colorimetry. Methods: Twenty-six undergraduate students of oral clinical medicine were randomly divided into experimental group (13 persons) and control group (13 persons). The experimental group received preclinical training on oral color and Vitapan 3D-Master colorimetric plate, Control group did not participate in training. Two groups of three volunteers three designated teeth color comparison, the computer colorimetric results as a standard, colorimetric results and standard results of the chromaticity difference, the difference between the two groups of chroma differences. Results: There was no significant difference in colorimetric results between the experimental group and the control group (P> 0.05). There was no significant difference in colorimetric results between male and female students (P> 0.05). The chromogenic knowledge of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P <0.05). 92.3% of students think that pre-clinical training can increase their interest in learning clinical skills. Conclusion: Preclinical training has no obvious effect on dental colorimetric ability, but it can improve students’ clinical operation ability and professional interest.
