赤麦7号是以弱冬性材料B37为母本、以赤麦5号(94-5)为父本进行有性杂交,按育种目标经过系统选育而成的新品种。具有早熟、高产、品质优、抗逆性强、适应性广的特点。2007~2008年国家区域试验平均产量4 793.3kg/hm2,比对照品种辽春17号平均增产4.36%,2009年国家生产试验平均产量5 604.0kg/hm2,比对照品种辽春17号平均增产12.3%。该品种不但适于春种,而且适于旱肥地及二阴地夏播。
