Today’s publishing industry in Russia is already an era in which private publishing companies have undergone restructuring and rebirth in the turmoil of the market economy. Looking back ten years ago, the Soviet Union was once a publishing power. In the first five years of the dissolution, an average of 50,000 books were published each year, with an average annual number of 1.8 billion copies and a national average of seven books.
