本文以海涅发表于1836年的短篇小说《佛罗伦萨之夜》中的第二部分、即“第二夜”为分析对象,从作品中伦敦与巴黎这两个城市的对比及其意蕴入手,试图揭示从他者形象的描绘、塑造到套话的形成、传播这一动力学流程,梳理互为参照的英、法、意、德四国文化谱系所展示的欧洲文化发展脉络,剖析异国形象对于德国文化自我建构的启示学意义。文章立足于城市对比在作品中的叙事作用,从伦敦舞蹈印象——巴黎身世讲述——巴黎午夜重舞这三步曲,来挖掘女主人公独舞的涵义,及舞蹈在法国文化中的重要意义。
