为了深入地讨论关于孔子思想评价和弘扬民族优秀文化的问题,以发扬爱国主义传统,增强中华民族的凝聚力,为建设有中国特色的社会主义文化作贡献,由湖北省社会科学联合会、湖北大学、湖北省炎黄文化研究会、曲阜师范大学孔子研究所、武汉市社会科学联合会、武汉市老龄科学研究院联合发起,于1992年6月16日至21日在湖北大学举行了《孔子思想评价与弘扬民族优秀文化》研讨会。来自全国24个省、市、自治区的100所高等院校、科研、文博单位的专家、研究工作者200余人参加了会议。大会由中顾委委员韩宁夫同志致开幕词,省社科联陈放副主席、湖北大学副校长赵敬钊教授致词,阐述了大会的宗旨。大会秘书长、湖北大学张国光教授作了会议讨论综述。山东大学周来祥教授、武汉市社科联余育德副主席、武汉市老龄科
