Objective: To investigate the relationship between the degree of posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) and the development of diabetic retinopathy (DR). Methods: According to the degree of PVD, 183 eyes were divided into complete PVD, partial PVD and non-PVD3 group. The patients were followed up for 32 months to observe the changes of their disease and visual acuity. Results: The PVD in the complete PVD group was stable and the prognosis of visual acuity was good. In some PVD groups, the disease was aggravated and the visual acuity was poor. Conclusion: The degree of PVD has an important influence on the development of DR and the prognosis of vision
