豫谷12号系安阳市农科所选育而成的高产优质大穗谷子新品种。在2004~2005年华北夏谷区区域试验及生产试验中,连年增产、品质优良,综合抗性较好,一般产量5 500kg/hm2,2006年3月通过国家农作物品种审定委员会审定。该品种适合华北地区夏播种植。
