人类开始使用银的时间,看来不会比铜晚多少。因为银和铜一样,在自然界有以纯金属状态存在的矿物—自然银。它多半成为乱丝状、树枝状、片状和粒状。古代形象地称之为“老翁须”、“天生芽”、“龙芽”等。由于自然银稀少,远古时代的银制品是很罕见的。后来,人们学会了从银与硫化合而成的矿物中提炼纯银。所用的矿物有辉银矿(Ag_2s)、深红银矿(Ag_2-SbS_3)和淡红银矿(Ag_3A_3S)。不过大多数的银,却是从方铅矿
