出生在美国的华裔女作家张纯如于2004年11月9日,在加州盖洛斯自己的车内以手枪自杀身亡,震惊了海内外。作者影响最大的著作是她1 997年在美国出版的《南京浩劫:被遗忘的大屠杀》,这是首部向西方世界介绍南京大屠杀的英文专著。而1995年出版的《蚕丝——钱学森传》(Thread of theSilkworm)是她的第一本书,同样是呕心之作,她用了3年时间向美国国家档案局、美国国防部等相关单位搜集大量的历史绝密资料,查阅了相关大学的档案等大量文献记录,并实地访问上百位钱学森的同事、师长、学生、邻居、朋友以及他的儿子钱永刚。该书详细记录了钱学森在美国的20年中,如何为美国火箭科技做出贡献,以及如何成为麦卡锡主义的牺牲品而离开美国,而后成为中国火箭导弹技术之父的。
Zhang Chunru, a Chinese-American writer born in the United States, shocked both at home and abroad by gun pistol killing himself in Galileo’s own car on November 9, 2004. The most influential book by the author was her “Nanjing Holocaust: The Holocaust Forgotten”, which was published in the United States in 1997. It is the first English-language monograph introducing the Nanjing massacre to the western world. The Threads of the Silkworm, published in 1995, was her first book. It was also a painstaking work that she spent three years collecting from the U.S. National Archives and the U.S. Department of Defense. A large number of historical top-secret information, access to a large number of documents such as university records and field visits hundreds of money Hsueshen colleagues, teachers, students, neighbors, friends and his son Qian Yonggang. The book details how Qian Xuesen left the United States as a victim of McCarthyism in the 20 years of the United States and how he became the father of China’s rocket and missile technology.
