金沙江是长江上游干流河段名。古称绳水、丽水、马湖江,元代以后称金沙江。因江中含沙金而得名。主流源于青海省唐古拉山各拉丹冬峰西南麓,当曲口以上称沱沱河,当曲口至青海省玉树县巴塘河口称通天河,巴塘河口至四川宜宾岷江口称金沙江,长2308千米,从河源至宜宾,河长约3481千米,流域面积约50万平方千米。由德钦县羊拉乡德拉村进入云南,流经迪庆、丽江、大理、楚雄、昆明、东川、昭通7个地州市的部分地区,在水富县云富镇的中嘴出境
