民国古玩行,是个鱼龙混杂的场所。当时时局动荡,一方面满清遗老遗少的古董玩意儿开始流向市场,另一方面胆大包天的草寇到处开坟掘墓。古玩行里每天接触的都是宝贝,在其中混的如鱼得水的,都是极端聪明的人。岳彬便是其中之一。1896年岳彬出生于河北通县张各庄,因家境贫寒,原本想着读书光宗耀祖的岳彬,却不料碰到了时局变革,断了科举之路。此时岳彬的父母饥寒交迫,供不起岳彬读新式学堂,岳彬刚满15岁,便经人推荐来到北京一个小古玩铺当起了学徒。
