“城市有两种,一是像树一样长起来的,这是自然流派,就像广州这块地方也许曾经有一颗叫做‘广州’的种子被神或灵悄悄种下,然后慢慢地……”《画报》里有这样一段文字。人们会认为现代与传统、时尚与古老永远是矛盾的,但,广州不同,自然流派决定了她古老却绝无衰败的气息。有些城市适合观赏,有些城市适合居住,广州是有鱼也有熊掌。她正大步向国际大都市的目标迈进,地铁通了,车子上了高架路,楼宇越来越现代,珠江两岸的灯火更加璀璨……当然,在拥有现代的同时,—些旧时的景致也正渐渐地淡出我们的视野,远离我们的思维,即便它们与时尚融合得还算可以。比如旧时的西关大屋和青石道路,比如骑楼,比如隐没在深巷中的镬耳屋以及曾经伴随好几代人的老字号商行……
