盘锦经济开发区是中共盘锦市委、市政府于1992年4月设立的,并于1993年3月被辽宁省人民政府批准为省级开发区。盘锦经济开发区位于兴隆台区和双台子区的结合部,是城市总体规划的中心地带。因此,开发区是依托母城搞开发,使城市的诸多功能得以充分利用。这样既迅速实现了招商引资所需的大环境,又节省资金投入。开发区地势平坦,总控制面积为20.55平方公里,规划面积11.3平方公里,第一期开发面积为6.3平方公里,正在实施面积为3.4平方公里,目前已开发建设面积为2.4平方公里。盘锦经济开发区的前身是盘锦三大工业区之一的兴隆工业区,始建于1988年6月,现已达到“八通一平”,具备建厂条件。开发区充分利用盘锦地区和辽河油田的综合资源优势,以石化产品加工为主,轻纺工业为辅的工业发展格局已初步形成,良好的投资环境吸引了日本、美国、韩国以及香港、台湾等国家和地区的客商前来投资建厂。目前进区工贸企业已达400多家,投资额9亿多元,其中引进外资企业25家,总投
