端午节有挂艾草的习俗,人们把艾草挂在门上用以避邪,用艾草沐浴防病疫,因而端午节还有“浴兰节”之称。端午节时,人们采兰这种香草煮水洗浴,但兰特别难采,人们便用艾叶、菖蒲等草来代替,熬水沐浴。这些草有很好的药用价值,根据《本草纲目》的记载,菖蒲能够明目健身,延年益智,因而用草药水沐浴的风俗在陕西等地一直保留到今天。除了沐浴,人们还喜欢喝用菖蒲泡的酒。
