Historically, businessmen from Shanxi and Mongolia pointed out Shanxi merchants doing business in Mongolia in the Qing Dynasty. The trade relations between the desert south of Mongolia and the hinterland of Mongolia and the Central Plains Han area have in fact never stopped and the rulers’ “border ban” can not be strictly stopped. In addition to Gong City in the Ming Dynasty, a horse market was set up in Mongolia to allow the Mongolian and Han peoples to engage in non-governmental trade at designated places. The Ming government encouraged merchants to give preferential treatment to the army stationed in the town to transport grain and forage, and Shanxi merchants would like to take this opportunity.
