亲属称谓作为文化的一部分,是一种常见的文化现象。英汉两种语言的亲属称谓有许多共性,但也存在着很大的差异,《红楼梦》中包含了繁复的亲属关系称谓,如何将其译为英语又不失作者原意,对译者是一个很大的挑战。本文以东西方文化为背景,以《红楼梦》杨译版本为例,探讨称谓语的翻译策略及影响因素。
Kinship terms as a part of culture is a common cultural phenomenon. There are many commonalities between kinship terms in English and Chinese, but there are also great differences. The “Dream of Red Mansions” contains complicated kinship terms, and how to translate them into English without losing the author’s original meanings is very important to the translator Big challenge. Taking the Eastern and Western cultures as the background, taking Yang’s version of A Dream of Red Mansions as an example, this article explores the translation strategies and its influencing factors.
