In recent years, some studies have been published on the induction of calli redifferentiation in woody tissue culture. However, only a few cases reported some success with camellia. Wu et al. (1981) reported that new clones have been obtained from the cotyledons of tea tree. However, no organ differentiation was observed in anther and shoot tip callus.
