卵形鲳鲹是热带、亚热带暖水性中上层鱼类。0~+龄早期生长稍慢,均叉长2.6cm、重0.52g,经129d的养殖,终叉长9.9cm、重20.53g,日均增重0.6g;叉长日均增长率1.04％,与养殖天数的关系式为Lt=0.0551d+2.6361;体重日均增长率2.85％,与养殖天数的关系式为Wt=0.8640e~(0.0262d);叉长与体重的回归方程为W=0.0368L~(2.8055)。0~+—1~+龄生长加快,叉长10—12cm,经240—270d饲养,终重425—678g。池塘单养均单产8275.4kg/hm~2,间养均单产8301.8kg/hm~2,投入产出比1∶1.44。卵形鲳鲹畏冷,珠江三角洲沿海地区仍需人工构设越冬池。
