The ICIAM Maxwell Award, awarded since 1999, was funded by the British Association for Applied Mathematics and the Maxwell Foundation to reward internationally recognized major, original work in applied mathematics. In 2015, the ICIAM Maxwell Award was given to Jean-Michel Coron of the 6th Université Paris, in recognition of his groundbreaking contribution to the variational methods of PDEs and to the nonlinear control of nonlinear PDEs. Coron has great influence on the variational method of nonlinear partial differential equations.
