《范进中举》是《儒林外史》中最为精彩的篇章之一。主人公范进是个读书人,他生活在贫穷之中,一直不停地参加考试,直到五十多岁才中了个秀才。小说记叙他参加乡试中了举人一事,让人们思考,在科举制度盛行的社会文化中,读书人是怎样一年又一年地跋涉在科举的漫漫长途中,在这个过程中,他们的心灵、人格又是怎样受到巨大的扭曲,让读者在笑的同时感受到非常深沉的悲哀,对社会、对文人的道路都引起了思考。文中那准确、生动、洗练的白话语言,栩栩如生的人物形象塑造,特别是出色的讽刺手法,使本文艺术上取得了巨大成功。现就本文的讽刺艺术运用谈谈本人的看法。
“Fan Jinzhongju” is one of the most wonderful chapters in The Scholars. The protagonist was a scholar, and he lived in poverty and remained on the exam until his mid-twenties before becoming a scholar. The novel recounts his participation in the provincial examination as a solstice to let people think about how the scholar is going year-long year after year in the civil and imperial examination system in the social culture in which the imperial examination system prevails. The accurate, vivid and practiced vernacular language and lifelike portrayal of characters in the text, especially the brilliant satire, have made the art a tremendous success.
