传统上认为中世纪英格兰医院,是救赎世人的宗教慈善机构。但在二元权力体系下,医院无法规避王权与教权之间的合作与竞争。国王与主教既出于公义,合作维系医院的运作,也出于私利谋夺医院的利益。由于国王与主教对医院的权力划分存在交叉,因此产生对医院政治经济特权的争夺与博弈。在实际运作中,医院不仅是救赎世人的宗教慈善机构,也是王权与教权之争的名利场,其中尤以世俗君主和主教之间的合作与竞争为最。
Medieval England was traditionally regarded as a religious charity that redeemed the world. However, under the dual power system, the hospital can not evade the cooperation and competition between the kingship and the teaching right. The king and the bishop out of justice, cooperation and maintenance of the operation of the hospital, but also for private gain the interests of the hospital.
