引言红海气候与现代海洋环境是由这个温带海洋被一个沙漠所环抱的事实所限定。水体交换只能通过南部的狭窄的曼德海进行。这个浅海海槛的实际水深约为-140m(Morcos,1970)。更新世期间的海平面被动造成了表层水和底层水条件的明显变化。前人对红海古海洋学的研究已经证实了这一事实。Herman(1968)等描述了浮游有孔虫对这些变化的响应。此后Chen(1969)等利用翼足目动物再度证实了气候的变化。研究稳定同位素的变化 Introduction The Red Sea climate and the modern marine environment are defined by the fact that this temperate ocean is surrounded by a desert.
