《八月之光》中的“记忆相信早于知晓记忆”以及其后多处与该句类似的表达成为前景化的语言现象。功能文体学的及物性分析说明,这一系列相似又不尽相同的反常规心理过程相似性地表达了该作品的主题,即乔无法掌控命运的悲惨一生和其悲剧命运的根源。对这一组心理过程的对比分析还揭示出控制乔一生的是乔一直都不理解的力量,这在广义上表现出福克纳对现代人荒诞处境的理解和关注。
“Light in August” in the “memory of the early knowledge of memory” and then a number of expressions similar to the sentence as a foregone language phenomenon. Functional stylistics and physical analysis show that this series of similar and different anti-normative psychological processes similarly express the theme of the work, that is, the tragic life and the tragedy of Joe’s tragedy. A comparative analysis of this set of psychological processes reveals that Joe’s control over Joe’s life is power that Joe never understood, which in a broad sense shows Faulkner’s understanding and concern about the absurdity of modern man.
