The weak sandwich in the rock mass of dam foundation is a major engineering geological problem often encountered in the construction of water conservancy and hydropower. It not only relates to the safety of the dam, but also often affects the design scheme, project investment and construction period. Therefore, research on it has been increasingly valued by people. What is currently used to refer to weak interlayers is that in layered rocks, argillaceous materials (or carbonaceous materials of similar nature, etc.) have a high content, are weak in lithology, have low mechanical strength, and have significant differences in relative upper and lower rock layers, and are prone to cause foundations. Shallow or deep sliding, thin sandwiches that require appropriate engineering measures. Weak interlayers can occur in various layers of rock in different geologic times.
